Here are answers to the most common questions about Northshire Cleaning’s services, pricing, and how we work.
How much do you charge for house cleaning?
Rates are determined by a variety of factors, one significant factor being square footage. However, two houses with the same square footage may vary widely in cost depending on additional factors such as:
- Occupancy (how many people live in the home)
- Pets (if there are any, and how many)
- Number of levels (for example, a one level ranch versus three or four level condominium)
- Architecture (exposed logs and beams versus sheetrock walls & ceilings.)
- Contents (sparse versus cluttered)
- Materials (wood floors versus carpet, rough hewn baseboards versus painted baseboards)
What cleaning products do you use?
- Spartan Biorenewables Restroom Cleaner. Non-toxic, Citrus Acid based cleaner for hard, non-porous surfaces.
- Mrs. Myers all purpose cleaner concentrate
- Dr. Bronner’s Sal’s Suds- Biodegradable, non-toxic, diverse cleaner: from dishes, to laundry, to floors and all hard surfaces.
- OdoBan no rinse Neutral Floor Cleaner- leaves no residue, safe for all floor types, works great in pet friendly homes.
- Zep Acidic Toilet Bowl Cleaner
- BarKeepers Friend
How often should I have my home cleaned?
This depends on a variety of factors, including budget, lifestyle, occupancy (how many people and children in the home), presence of pets, and if your home is a full time or part time residency. Weekly service provides the best maintenance of the home, and each cleaning is faster (and cheaper) due to less buildup between cleanings. As you space out the cleanings more to either bi-weekly, tri weekly, or monthly, each cleaning must address more buildup and therefore takes longer and is priced higher.
Are you flexible with scheduling?
With many of our clients being Short Term Rentals and Second homeowners, we have mastered the feat of flexible scheduling. We are pros at the moving target schedule, and are happy to accommodate week to week as needed scheduling requests.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask that you please show courtesy and consideration by giving us a day or two of prior notice when you must cancel or reschedule service, so that we can have an opportunity to refill the hole in our cleaning technicians’ schedule. We are so grateful to our clients who are considerate by nature, and because of you, a formal late notice cancellation policy is unnecessary. We know that by and large late notice cancellations are for reasons that are outside of your control and unavoidable, and it is our pleasure to extend grace in these infrequent instances.
What if I’m not happy with the cleaning?
We offer a satisfaction guarantee. This means that if you (or your rental guests) have a complaint that something was missed, please notify us within 24 hours of discovery and we will happily schedule someone to come back out as soon as possible, the same day if at all possible, and clean the area that was missed.
How do I know I can trust the cleaning technicians?
All of our cleaning technicians are thoroughly screened and background checked.
Do I have to be home for the cleaning?
It is completely up to your own personal level of comfort, however most of our clients prefer to plan to be gone during the cleaning so that the cleaning technicians can move quickly and efficiently through the house without interruptions.
What should I do to prepare for cleaning?
There is need to pre-clean anything, after all, that’s why you’re hiring us! However, having surfaces cleared of clutter and floors picked up will enable our cleaning technicians to focus their time and energy on cleaning surfaces. This is also how you will get the most value for your dollar. Taking a few minutes to tidy the house before your cleaning is also appreciated as it shows respect to your cleaning technicians, just as brushing your teeth before a dental cleaning shows respect for your dental hygienist.
What is the difference between your Top to Bottom Deluxe, and your Regular Recurring Service?
These two cleaning plans differ mainly in the level of grime they are aiming to clean. Deep cleaning provides a comprehensive service for tackling significant build-up, demanding a meticulous execution. In contrast, Regular Recurring Maintenance cleaning aims to preserve a consistently high level of cleanliness in your home through regular weekly service.
What is the best way to communicate my guest bookings if I am hiring you to perform STR turnovers?
We have found the simplest way to communicate your guest bookings with us is to make us a co-host on your booking platform site, with calendar access only. This way we can stay abreast of all last minute changes.
